Band Members

VOX

With no formal training or musical background, founding member Scott Smedley throws preconceived notions aside and captures the attention of whatever audience is in front of him. Personable and fun-loving with the gift of gab, “Smed” loves to show people how to have a good time. Trust us, you’ll be singing along too!

RHTM GTR

A true ATLien, Trey has been playing music in and around Atlanta for 25 years. As an OG Potential and brother-in-law of Chris Basta, Trey’s tight rhythm playing and natural baritone certainly pack a punch. Don’t be fooled by his death metal tees; he’s a softie at heart!

LD GTR

Rhett originally joined The Potentials on bass guitar, where his fretless prowess was on full display. With the departure of the band’s original guitarist in 2018, Rhett seamlessly made the switch to melting faces as lead guitarist. Long hair- short hair, we don’t care – he shreds either way!

DRUMS

The heartbeat of The Potentials, Chris Basta has been playing drums semi-professionally for most of his life. He has worked as an audio engineer for close to 40 years and currently owns and operates Boom! Post Audio here in Atlanta. One of three original members, “Basta” always provides a solid groove to dance to!

BASS

Affectionately known as “Bass”, Tucker Wells joined the band in 2018 with big shoes to fill. Since then,Tucker has grown into his role as the band’s backbone. His youthful energy and loyalty have been instrumental in the band’s development and progression.

KEYS

Joining the band in 2014 after the departure of the band’s original keyboardist, John Favier adds depth and dimension to an already packed musical palette. His technical accuracy and consistency help recreate songs, with a personal twist. Watch out, he might just bust out a key-tar!
